NATURALLY SUPPORTED ELIMINATION
Screen Shot 2013-01-23 at 8.20.38 PMIn India, squatting for elimination is the norm,
and I have noticed that once women from Western cultures live with an Indian toilet for a few weeks, they wish they had one at home!

The “Squatty Potty” is a specially designed stool placed in front of a western-style toilet to allow elimination from a squatting position. This setup actually gives “the best of East and West,” as the user may sit on the toilet seat, which is not possible in traditional Indian-style squatting, as well as draw the knees up toward the chest to ease bowel movements without straining, which cannot be done safely on a Western-style water closet.

There is certainly more to healthy elimination than body position, and Ayurveda has much to offer, such as personalized dietary recommendations, herbal support and more. Still, the “Squatty Potty” is  a worthwhile and affordable bathroom addition.  Click here to check out a short video explaining the benefits of the “Squatty Potty.
